At senior cycle Irish, all 4 skills are examined: listening, reading, writing and speaking with significant emphasise put on spoken Irish.
The oral Irish exam is 40% of the leaving certificate Irish course. This consisted of a 15 minute conversation speaking about various topics including yourself, hobbies, family and friends, your area and current topical events.
There is also a focus on literature at senior cycle Irish. Students study 5 poems and 5 prose, understanding and analysing them.
At higher level, students also study a novel and write short stories and essays on current affairs whereas at ordinary level, students study writing postcards, emails, blogs and letters.
